Acer palmatum ’Fireglow’ |
| Common Name |
Fireglow Japanese Maple |
| Description |
’Fireglow’ is an intense wine-red, medium sized Japanese Maple. Some describe the color a slightly more "electric" red in the right time of year, and under the right light. In staying slightly smaller and more compact than ’Bloodgood’, it is more versatile for small spaces, and is a great maple for container gardening. One of the best selections for the South and other hot climates, since ’Fireglow’ retains its color even in the heat. Mature height should be about 12-15’, and slightly smaller in width. Selected and developed by Fratelli Gilardelli Nursery in Italy, ’Fireglow’ was not officially named until 1977 in the Netherlands. Zone 5-9 |
