Originally from Japan, this dwarf Japanese Black Pine has extremely dark green, 1" short needles. 'Kotobuki' has an upright, tight columnar shape and owrks well in containers, rock gardens, or even for bonsai since it will likely reach just 4' tall and 2.5' wide in 10 years. Prominent white buds form in the winter and eventually with age the bark developes a cork-like texture. Can tolerate salt spray and other coastal conditions. Zone 6-8
