'Gold Rider' is a surprisingly hardy gold form that was introduced from Holland in 1985. It has since been claimed to be one of the best "golden" cultivars. It is moderately slow growing upright, columnar tree, with fern-like, yellow-golden foliage. 'Gold Rider' is a spectacular hedging conifer, which also makes a superbly colored specimen plant. It is rather tough and reliable in a landscape, and does not burn in the sun. When planted in preferred conditions, the mature height of this selection is 50 to 65 feet, and approximately ten feet tall in ten years. Zone 5 - 9
