Plant
Tsuga canadensis 'Pendula'
Sargent Weeping Hemlock
The ever-popular "Weeping Canadian Hemlock" can be used in many ways in the landscape: as a groundcover, weeping over a wall, or as a single specimen. It has been grown for over a century and is deservedly popular for all of its wonderful characteristics, including its versatility. 'Pendula' will generally grow four to five feet tall with a eight to ten foot spread, but depending on how it is pruned it can reach upwards of ten feet. Its pendulous branches are covered in flat, dark green needles that have two whitish bands of stomata underneath. In addition to its attractive appearance, this is probably the best conifer in shady situations. Zone 4-8
