'Degroot's Spire' may be the narrowest of all the arborvitaes. The foliage is also very different from the species' standard, with a medium green, nubby appearance more similar to a member of the Chamaecyparis family. Because this variety typically matures at only three to five feet in height and one to two feet wide, it is perfect for a narrow spot where a taller plant would not be preferable, and is great for a low growing hedge.
