Picea mariana 'Nana'
Blue Dwarf Black Spruce
This very slow growing spruce is sometimes confused with Picea mariana 'Ericoides' (Blue Nest Spruce), but side-by-side one can see the obvious differences. 'Nana's' needles are silver-blue-gray and very small, growing from thin branches that stay distinctive throughout its growth rather than blending all together. This conifer requires practically no maintenance becoming a broad, dense globe over time, maturing at approximately three feet tall and five to six feet wide. 'Nana' is a wonderful accent in any rock garden or in a shrub border. Zone 3 - 7
