Not many small trees have such identifiable characteristics as the Parrotia. It can be a small multi-branched, wide spreading tree. The bark on an older tree will exfoliate, becoming more pronounced each year. The new foliage emerges with a red edge which fades to a lush green by the time the leaf matures. Fall foliage varies from fire reds and oranges to yellows. Full sun or light shade is best. Zone 5 - 8
