Cephalotaxus harringtonia 'Fastigiata'
Upright Japanese Plum Yew
This variety of Cephalotaxus grows similar to Irish Yew, and is often referred to as Japanese Plum Yews because the fruit it produces bares a striking resemblance to the edible plum. In the spring, new growth on this conifer is striking yellow, turning dark green by mid-summer. It grows very columnar and fairly slow, and tends to be unattractive to browsing deer. This variety is native to Japan and has been found to be useful in landscapes for its tolerance to shade. Zone 5 - 8
